Exhibition of Caricatures of Indian and Egyptian personalities at MACIC |

The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) will inaugurate an exhibition entitled "Faces and Features: Caricatures of Indian and Egyptian personalities" by the Egyptian Caricature Society on 30 October 2013. The exhibition will have depiction of prominent Indian figures from the field of politics, art and literature, and cinema, and they will be shown alongside leading Egyptians in similar fields. Indian personalities that are depicted include Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai while Egyptians include Naguib Mahfouz, Youssef Chahine, and Omar Sharief.
The exhibition will be jointly inaugurated by the First Undersecretary in the Ministry of Culture, Ms. Camelia Sobhi, and the Ambassador of India to Egypt, Mr. Navdeep Suri. Mr. Ahmed Toghan, the pioneering caricaturist and the President of the Caricature Society, whose work will be shown in the exhibition, will also address the gathering.
The Egyptian Caricature Society has worked closely with the Maulana Azad Centre recently with an exhibition of caricatures of Gandhi being inaugurated on 2 October to mark the International Day of Non-Violence and the 144th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Both India and Egypt have a rich history of caricatures and cartoons, and the exhibition is the first of a series of steps to deepen the cooperation in the field of caricature art between India and Egypt.
The inauguration will take place at 5:30 pm on 30 October at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), 23, Talaat Harb, Downtown Cairo. The exhibition will remain open till the 14th of November, except for Fridays and Saturdays. |

"World Visual Diary" is my first book, a collection of my cartoons created since 2010 till today in exile
*Born in 1973, Kianoush Ramezani is an Iranian artist, cartoonist, and human rights activist, who left Iran due to his involvement in Iran's Green Movement and his position in the Cartoonists' Rights Network International (CRNI). He has taught many courses and delivered lectures on the cartooning process, freedom of expression, and human rights. He has also founded and curated several cartoon expositions in France to support human rights in Iran and exiled international journalists. Kianoush received the first International cartooning award of 2012 from Kofi Annan and the mayor of Geneva. Kianoush Ramezani’s cartoons have appeared regularly on Iranian websites such as "Khodnevis","Nabz-Iran","Iranian", etc. and in International publications and media such as "Courrier International", "Arte" and "TV5 Monde" website. Kianoush Ramezani has lived in France since 2009 as a political refugee.

The universal tolerance organization is glad to announce that 245 cartoonists from 52 countries have joined the first international tolerance cartoon festival. The U.T.O is highly thankful to all the artists around the world for their participation who have us more than 600 cartoons.
As for the competition, the jury session will take place on 28 October 2013 and the winners will be announced within one week after.

Every year, new ideas, drawings and stories are always a challenge to a jury with a lot of effort must discover all the new and old authors that the salon to salon invested effort to express themselves creatively in the comic pages and reward them. Once again, the main fighting in aesthetic terms was between classic narrator and those who see the possibility of a comic book reader to upset copyright story, artistic approach pom skills violation of the rules of the media. Among the 235 authors from 22 countries, of which most were those from Serbia, few people whose comic panel failed to intrigue, controversy and raise many questions among the members of this year's jury. History, mythology, war, stripovane poems, fiction, gothic disturbing motives, personal teenage stories, comic banter, caricature approaches to life issues, all of which can be detected at 203 incoming work. Expressiveness comics today is boundless, it is no longer limited to the square and bubbles. The authors realize that the world 's ninth art welcome all who have a concept. And it is this openness and invitation to participate in the Salon of comics all the creative energy from one year to complete this event positions in the increasingly important place in the cultural life not only in Belgrade and Serbia, but also the entire region of the former Yugoslavia.

*Grand Prize: Slavković Milos, Serbia "Vicious researcher "
Milos Slavković was born in 1979. in Zemun (Belgrade). He grew up on comics Italian school: Bonelijevim editions of Dylan Dog and Zagor, and Alan Ford. However, a decisive influence on his style of the encounter with the work of Bane and Kerac superhero releases by Western publishers, where it fascinating dynamic anatomy of the characters. After graduating from high school he entered the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design in Belgrade, department of illustration class Rastka Čirića. During the study starts visiting the workshop comic George Lobačev, where it finally decides to comics as a creative medium. Immediately after graduation to participate in the making of comics based on the TV game Secret Agent Izzy. Then working as a team in the production of the first concept of a home video game Genesis Rising, Metamorph study, the distribution Dreamcatcher Interactive. Parallel learning - part in the development of web comics Paladin, which builds on the style. Works on SF comic Contract to text Garana Madejrosa and numerous smaller illustrative projects.
He was awarded the Gold Politikin ZABAVNIK wash 2007.He participated in many festival of comics and illustrations. His style emphasizes illustrative personnel in the comics, with an emphasis on dynamic figures and colors.

we remember you to participate in 19th edition of HUMOUR A GALLARATE International Cartoon Contest - Gallarate (Italy) organized by Pro Loco of Gallarate and dedicated to Marco Biassoni (1930-2002) one of the greatest italian Masters of graphic, humour, cartoons and advertising.
*Themes: DEVIL. Hell, devilries and what lies around sins and graphic spites.

*REGULATIONS:
1) The contest is open to all professional cartoonists, caricaturists, illustrators and graphic artists from all over the world. The contest is articulated in 3 sections (Graphics/Cartoon, Satire, Caricature)
2) Theme: DEVIL. Hell, devilries and what lies around sins and graphic spites.
Sections A) Graphics/Cartoon | B) Satire | C) Caricature (the devils in the political world and those belonging to Human Comedy)
It's possible to participate in all the sections.
3) Entries: max. 3 works. The works must be original and accompanied by the author's photo or caricature, entry-form and biography. Each work should bear the signature or mark of the author and name, surname, address, phone number and other data on the back. The author have to indicate the section for each work/s.
4) Size: A4 (21 x 29,7 cm)
5) Technique: Free. Common graphic and digital prints will be accepted but only if signed by the author. Copies of ink and pencil drawings are not applicable. The works sent in digital form, by email or informatic devices, will not be considered for the awarding of prizes of Grand Prix "Marco Biassoni"; the works will be taken into consideration only for the exhibition and for the catalogue.
6) Deadline: October 28, 2013 (the post-mark will provide the proof)

10) Property: the Organizers reserves the rights to reproduce the cartoons in catalogue, newspapers, or posters to promote the Contest and to exhibit a selection of works in other locations in Italy and other countries. All the works will not be returned and will be included in the "Humour Gallarate Collection".
By submitting the works, the author accepts the rules and regulations of the Contest and the decisions of the Jury.

-Artworks must not be larger than A3 paper.
-Artworks format must be “JPG” with 300 DPI resolution and the size of each artwork must not exceed more than 2 megabytes.
-Selected artworks will be included in the festival catalog.
(Festival catalog will be published as a downloadable PDF file in the Cartoonmag.com website and if we publish the print edition of the catalog,a copy will be sent to all participants.)
-Along with the artworks you must also send this information: full name, mobile number,exact mailing address, biography and a photo of the artist. (All included in a word document).
-The Organizer reserves the right to publish the submitted artworks in the internet, press and … by artist’s name.
